Fast food's sponsorship of sport

The key paragraph is the one in which Rasmussen points out that "a lot of the [sports] events, such as the fun runs and triathlons, wouldn't happen without such [fast-food-industry] sponsorship arrangements and would therefore leave the people without that exposure to good, healthy activities". Putting aside the fact that, grammatically, this is an illogical statement, it's exactly what was said about tobacco-industry sponsorship of sports events in the 1980s.
